💧 The City of Port St. Lucie is planning a new water treatment facility near the Tradition area to help meet future demand as the city continues to grow. City Council unanimously approved a design contract Monday for the new facility, located off Discovery Way – West of Riverland.

🏗️ City officials said the new facility will help support growth on the western side of the city and provide additional capacity for future water needs and fire protection. Port St. Lucie currently operates 3 water treatment facilities with a combined capacity of 42 million gallons per day, while current daily demand sits around 23 million gallons. The new plant is expected to add another 10 million gallons daily, with room for future expansion.

🚰 The project is estimated to cost more than $200 million and is expected to be fully operational by 2030. Utility officials said the city has planned decades ahead for future utility needs to help avoid shortages as more residents move into the area.
